ARCHIVE : August 2007

Greetings; may I welcome you to the new alucidnation website.

Please note that this site is under construction whilst I tidy things up behind the scenes.

I've been doing some Spring cleaning, some background maintenance and re-organisation, the majority of which you won't actually notice, but the general feel of the site has altered, with more of the emphasis on photography - bigger images and a more spacious vibe.

I hope you like it. You can now navigate around within this page too; I've added anchors! Click here to go straight to Forthcoming gigs, or click here to view Miscellaneous news.

My intention is to try to update this site more regularly than of late, as I've been somewhat lax in this department. No excuses! I'm also adding a news archive section to these 'blogs' I write each time I update; it also enables me to remember what I was doing at certain points in my career too. Up till now, this site hasn't had this facility.

alucidnation live at the Daylight Festival

Thanks to Anne Garner for inviting me to do this special one-off gig at the Union Chapel, Islingston. Chuffed to be performing here again after a gap of almost six years. Last time I performed in this lovely venue was alongside Tom Middleton's AMBA, when I played a very ambient gig in front of around 600 people. VERY nervewracking!

This time, it's a lunchtime concert, looking forward to performing - the space lends itself perfectly to tranquil vibes. There's more information here, and you can also download a PDF document detailing the event if you so desire.

AMBA album audio visual launch event. alucidnation DJ

Firstly, thanks to Tom Middleton for inviting me along to support him at this event, it promises to be a great gig. Tom will be premiering the whole of his 'Lifetracks' album, due out soon on Big Chill Recordings, which'll be accompanied by a visual feast prepared by Ben Mason (Red Dog) and Nick Hillel (Yeast). The event runs from 19.30 until 1am. I'll be joined on the turntables by Tom, Peter Lawrence and Murray Clarke throughout the evening. More information here.

Big Chill Sundae Session

I lurrve playing the bar on a Sunday, especially the opening slot. It allows complete freedom to play exactly what you want, a bit of self indulgence...

LUCID

This is my regular monthly night at the Big Chill Bar, just off Brick Lane in the ever-popular and uber trendy East End of London. This month sees the third anniversary; time really does fly when you're having fun.

Come along and be aurally entertained with a fantastic mash-up of all kinds of stuff. During the past year I've shared the night with various people, doing back 2 back sets, which always proves interesting. The guest this month is yet to be announced. Watch this space...

Friday 3rd - Sunday 5th August 2007
The Big Chill Eastnor Festival

I think this'll be the fifth consecutive year that the Big Chill have secured this wonderful place for their annual shindig. This year promises the usual mix of good times and sunshiney vibes. Pete Lawrence and co have booked some great artists to perform this year, me included!

I've got a couple of performances lined up this year, a live alucidnation gig on the Sanctuary stage at 8pm on the Saturday night, where I'll be joined by my visual man, Ed Richardson. Then later that night I'm playing a DJ set as part of the Late Night Ambient sessions; this takes place in the Club Tent at some ungodly hour of the night!

Fingers crossed I've also secured my usual Big Chill Radio slot too, which usually takes place in the wee small hours of Monday morning. Always a highlight.

Go here for more information about the festival.

New album news

The second alucidnation album is now completed. It's ready to be mastered, I've done all I can this end and I've got to say that I'm very happy with it as a body of work. In my opinion it's a more cohesive piece that flows well. If you liked the first one, Induction, then I'm sure that this'll float your boat too.

It's called 'Get Lost' and is the second LP release on the Big Chill Recordings label. Available in your local record store around September time, all being well.

Big Chill Goa

Yes, I know I'm a bit slack in getting photographs and a few words together for this event, but suffice to say that it was a special week out in India. I'm compiling a scrapbook that will be on-line very soon.

Green Thing

Paul Gathercole (Ackers & G) and I are presently putting together a podcast that will hopefully encourage people to walk to work, aided by a 'walking-pace' DJ mix that we hope will make the experience more fulfilling.

Compilation Appearances

alucidnation will appear on the new Rennaisance complilation with a fresh track called 'Pedal Steal'. There's also an Artec track on there too. It's another complilation from the mighty Tom Middleton in the vein of his 'Sound of the Cosmos' 3xCD set from a few years back. This new three CD set should be a great 'journey' mix, taking the listener from deep house through to blissed out ambience. More information soon.

And 11cc, my covers incarnation is apparantly making an appearance on the second Crazy Covers compliation courtesy of Cosmosonica with the classic 'I'm Not in Love'.

For details of more releases that my music has surfaced on, goto the discography section of the site.
