Lol Hammond, Freddie B, Gidon Cohen and myself decided to get a weekly event going late in 2002, which we duly did. Originally, Pete Lawrence was to be involved, but when he and I went to check out the Hackney venue, we were put off because of numerous reasons. The decor, the staff... it just didn't feel right.

He dropped out, so it was up to me and Gidon to comandeer the Northside venue, while Freddie and Lol looked after the Brixton night. The Northside night didn't last long. A real shame, because we booked some good guests to play; Mixmaster Morris, David Toop to name a couple, but due to bad management we had to pull the plug shortly afterwards.

The Southside venue is still going strong though, although I think the original plan to make it a 'quiet club' of sorts has fallen by the wayside somewhat.
