Classic FM present the Chiller Cabinet
London
12th December 2005
.

About three or four times a year, the Chiller Cabinet puts on a gig showcasing artsites that they've been playing extensively on its show, which is broadcast on Classic FM late at weekends.

Seeing as I was one of those artistes, I was asked to perform at this one. Unfortunately, around the time of this gig, I was suffering quite badly from back trouble, an affliction that seems to be bothering me more and more as I head interminably towards middle age!

Consequently, it was touch and go as to whether or not I managed to make it to this gig, but fortunately my friend and occasional VJ Ed Richardson had made the trip down to see this one, and he drove me into town to the Notting Hill Arts Centre in order for me to perform.

If I'm honest, this wasn't what I expected it to be. I'm not sure why, but I'd envisaged a sit-down event, but it turned out to be just the opposite; a club-like feel to the night, with acts interspersed with DJ sets from various people.

I don't know whether it was down to the time that I ended up playing, or whether the majority of people had turned up to see Infantjoy and Digitonal, but by the time I got on, the majority of the audience had already split. It's a strange one when that happens, you either feel inspired or disillusioned, and I felt the latter that night.

I played a very ambient set, most of which were dirivitives of a CD that I sent to the Chiller Cabinet called 'Slow Thaw'.
